The Scottish Government is the devolved government of Scotland. The government is led by the First Minister and selects the cabinet secretaries of Scotland who carry out tasks surrounding the government. All Government ministers sit in The Scottish Parliament, and are accountable to it. The government is dependent on Parliament to pass primary legislation.

On the 14th of February 2020, Westminister provided devolved powers alongside the initial concept of the Scottish Government through the passing of the 'Scotland Act' proposed by John Trevorson and the 'Scotland Act Amendment §1.11 - §1.12' proposed by Liam MacDonald.

Powers devolved to the Scottish Government include all areas except for the Defence of the people, Foreign affairs and Taxation.

Cabinet[]

The First Minister is assisted by various Cabinet Secretaries with individual portfolios, who are appointed by the First Minister. The Lord Advocate can be appointed without being a Member of the Scottish Parliament, however, they are subject to Parliament's approval and scrutiny.
