South West Scotland is a lowland region of Scotland, a triangle bounded to the west by the Firth of Clyde and to the south by the Solway Firth. It's mostly rural, but with a strip of resort towns along the Clyde coast and industry inland. Towns within this region include Ayrshire & Arran, Clydesdale and Dumfries & Galloway.

Political History[]

The region of South Western Scotland has always held a myriad of political interests and ideologies, ranging from the likes of the Conservative Party to the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats. However, the most notable party in the region since the Ninth United Kingdom general election has been the Scottish National Party, although standing strongly during the 9th General Election under the leadership of Dino Saur, the party began to decline in the area as the Labour Party started to thrive against the competition. In the Twelfth United Kingdom general election, Dino Saur regained control of the region and remained within the seat for countless of terms until he retired and the later Scottish National Party would take his seat within the region. Scott Nelson held the seat during the Fifteenth United Kingdom general election up until the Labour Party and the Conservative Party would then steal the seat the following elections.

After this constant change of parties from the Labour Party to the Conservatives Party, the seat began to recline, with it switching between being controlled by an independent candidate and the Scottish National Party since the Twenty Seventh United Kingdom general election.

The Forty First United Kingdom general election was when the region finally reached stability, gaining a strong candidate from the Scottish National Party. Since then, Mairi Gougeon has proudly held the seat through further elections.
