Oakley Battle was the leader of the British Syndicalist League (BSL) and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He won the seat of North London in a very tight contest becoming the 2nd MP from the British Syndicalist League in parliament. Seeing the disastrous effects of Tory economic and social policy he launched a bid to become PM, which to his surprise he won despite being part of a minor party.
He realized that to keep the Tories out of power, he had to develop a broad base of leftists and liberals. He filled his cabinet with members of the BSL, the Liberal Democrats and the Labour party.
After taking a break from politics he joined the Democratic Socialist Party and became MP for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Oakley then joined the Communist Party of Britain and became the Treasurer of the party.
In July 2021, following the assassination of former British socialist prime minister Rebecca Long-Bailey, Battle was invited to the state funeral procession[1].
