The Fourth French general election was held on 5th June 2020 to elect all 380 members of the National Assembly.

Results[]

Most parties experienced losses this election, with many seats being vacated in order to run for Senate. The French Communist Party, led by Prime Minister Amets Aritza, lost the most seats at 88, although still retaining a large plurality. Larry David's The Republicans also suffered a devastating loss of 60 seats, dropping them to just 29 and fourth place overall. Despite also losing fourteen seats, RgoldF's National Rally was boosted up to third with 47 seats due to the dramatic loss of The Republicans. The only major party with a net gain was La France Insoumise, led by Saphron Cotta-Arc, with a pickup of fourteen seats for a total of 78.

The Socialist Party gained two more seats under Hubert Koundé, bringing them to thirteen in total, while Thomas Martin's Democratic Movement regained their second seat. Macron and his La République En Marche! party were completely shut out of the Assembly. The number of Independents elected increased eleven-fold, with major gains by George Lemaire and Cèlia Emma Beauchêne.
