Enzo Liddell-Grainger is a British politician serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the first leader of the Conservative Party, leading it at its inception. Ideologically he broadly identified himself as a neoliberal and an economic conservative during his leadership of the party, and in later years has positioned himself nearer the political centre, embracing more liberal social policies in recent times.
Positions[]
Liddell-Grainger is in the economically liberal faction of his party and is also a Eurosceptic. Socially Liddell-Grainger was fairly mixed but conservative on a variety of hot potato issues such as abortion, the death penalty and guns during his leadership of the party, but in more recent years especially he has broadened his social views to include more liberal policies, particularly on LGBT+ rights on which he is a stallwart supporter.
Despite his fairly strong economically conservative convictions, he has tried to broaden the parties appeal to the centre-ground, in the absence of Labours footing there. Under Liddell-Grainger the Conservative Party has generally been fairly big-tent and even welcoming to liberals.
In terms of Europe, Liddell-Grainger has advocated for a withdrawal agreement as opposed to a full no deal Brexit which his dismisses as "unnecessarily risky whilst a perfectly reasonable withdrawal agreement is possible".
