Party history[]
Currently (14 Feb), the party holds 43 out of 309 seats in the Bundestag, controlling 4 seats in the Bundesrat.
On the 4th of September 2020, CDU right-wingers split from the party to found the conservative Fatherland Party after concerns that the CDU were being too moderate.
On the 11th of February the CDU stepped out of the coalition with the AfD
